Sea Chest Blanketing
Sea Chest Blanketing
Sea chest and sea-suction blanketing that isolates seawater openings so valves, strainers, and piping can be serviced in the water without hauling out.

Tell us about your sea chest blanketing scope.
When a sea valve, strainer, or piece of seawater piping needs attention, you normally have two options: drydock, or blank the opening from outside so topside can work dry. We do the second, sealing sea chests and sea suctions with blanks so your engineers can open the system in the water.
Divers fit and secure a blanking plate over the sea chest or grating, confirm the seal, and stand by while topside breaks into the line. When the internal work is done, we remove the blank and verify the opening is clear. It keeps the vessel in the water and turns a haul-out job into a berth-side one.
This is coordination-heavy work, and we treat it that way, with clear communication between the dive supervisor and your engineering team from the moment the blank goes on to the moment it comes off. We confirm the scope, the openings, and the sequence before the dive so the isolation is right the first time.
How it works
Our process
Simple, careful, and clear from start to finish.
- 01
Confirm the scope
We review which openings are being isolated and the sequence of work with your engineering team.
- 02
Fit the blank
A diver positions and secures a blanking plate over the sea chest or grating and confirms the seal.
- 03
Stand by for topside
The dive crew holds while engineers open and service the system dry from inside.
- 04
Remove and verify
Once internal work is complete, we remove the blank and confirm the opening is clear.
